Chores

I'm trying to figure out good, age appropriate chores for the kids. Justin keeps encouraging me to give them more jobs to do around the house. They need some daily responsibilities. I started having them put away their own laundry and emptying the dishwasher. Any suggestions from you moms??? Does anyone do a chore chart??? Cash for chores???

I struggle with wanting to just do it myself- even though I know I need to teach them to work. Here is a good example of why- Sarah decided to empty the dishwasher using tongs. Yes....it took twice as long and was making me crazy to watch (I finally just had to leave the kitchen. She did one utensil at a time...), but she was working hard and had the job done when I returned. I'll take the help however I can get it, even when it's slow and totally inefficient. :)

bwwwahhh! how funny! how creative of her! gosh, i can't wait until my kids can do chores other than just picking up their playroom and putting up shoes! i want some cleaning floors kids LOL. i think earning an allowance for chores works (that is how we did it as kids). and then you can teach them money mgt from there.

Haha that is so cute. I understand the urge to do everything yourself. But I think a chore chart is a great way to help kids learn discipline develop a strong work ethic. A great free online one can be found at www.myjobchart.com its age appropriate from 4 years old and up. Hope this helps!

he he! THAT is persistence!
We do chore charts & check off each day - feed pets, take dishes to sink, load, unload, put up laundry, vacuum, shark the floors,
